PIQUA — Edison State Group Faculty’s volleyball group kicked off the beginning of the 2023-2024 athletics seasons on Thursday, Aug. 17. The Woman Chargers have labored exhausting in preparation of the season.
Head Coach Julia Brandewie is main the Woman Chargers for the seventh season. Along with her expertise as a coach, Brandewie was a part of her highschool’s Division II State Champion group, competed internationally with Premier Volleyball Academy, and performed for Owens Group Faculty and Siena Heights College.
“I’m very excited to start out this season, and we’re returning with some actually gifted gamers,” Brandewie stated. “The group has been within the fitness center all summer time placing within the work and is trying ahead to their first match.”
The Woman Chargers return to the courtroom with 4 sophomores and 5 incoming freshmen.
“Taylor Lessing was voted setter of the yr for the convention final yr and has labored extremely exhausting all summer time. I’ve excessive hopes for her this season to repeat receiving that award,” stated Brandewie. “We’re additionally returning with Graceanne Slade, Mackenzie Singer, and Heidi Anderson, all of that are unbelievable athletes and good leaders to have on the courtroom.”
She added, “I’m excited to see what our incoming freshmen can do. We’ve two exterior hitters, Abigail Jenkins and Brooklyn Bourne, who I consider will likely be a pressure to be reckoned with on the courtroom.”
The group will play their first sport on Thursday, Aug. 17, after they host Clark State Faculty in a convention matchup. The Woman Chargers will then journey to face Lorain County Group Faculty in a convention matchup on Saturday, Aug. 19.
Becoming a member of Brandewie is Sarah Pothast as assistant coach.
